The 4 Big Areas To Focus On To Help Protect Your Health

If you were to ask me for one positive thing from outbreak of the Covid 19 virus I would say this. It has highlighted the importance of maintaining good health and it has managed to do this in a couple of ways.
The most obvious one, is the way it is mainly affecting people who have underlying health conditions. The second way is how people have a limited space or time in which they can exercise, therefore the importance and the positive benefits of getting out and exercising are really being felt
The third way is the way people are having to adapt to the challenges of working at home, cocooning, homeschooling and not being able to do their normal social activities. This is not easy for anybody but some people will be coping better at this than others. Why?, because they have good pillars in place to help manage their health and not let it get on top of them.
Over the course of the next few weeks I’m going to be focusing on the four key areas that you can work on to improve your health. They are movement, sleep, stress management and diet. I will be going into each of these in more detail and giving you simple tasks that you can do from the comfort of your own home to start implementing them today

4 Key Pillars With One Main Goal.

Overall, if  we look at each of these 4 key pillars of health, they basically have the same goal. Simply put, that is, to limit the amount of bad stuff that builds up in the body. I appreciate that this is a very simple way at looking at it, but often the simpler we keep it the better.

Movement helps flush toxins out of the body and helps release happy endorphins such as dopamine which keep the stress hormones cortisol under control.

Getting the right and proper amount of sleep allows your body to recover form the days activities and allows your reserve of good hormones and energy supplies to be replenished so you can face the next day with energy and with a healthy immune system.

I think it is fair to say that everyone has experienced some level of stress over the last 4 weeks due to Covid 19 and we will always face stress in our lives. However, how people deal with their stress is very important and being able to manage it effectively is very important in limiting the stress response hormones in our body and maintaining good health.

As for diet, I think everyone probably has some awareness of what good foods and bad foods are, however, it doesn’t stop people from eating bad food when they are stressed, out of routine or not feeling so good.

Rather than repeating what you have probably already heard on about what you should eat and what you shouldn’t eat, I’m going to try and give you behaviors and tasks that you can do and incorporate into your day. while this is not my area of expertise, I will be getting some advice and guest posts from nutritionists to help give easy and manageable advice to you.
